SDS Article in The Student Underground
March 24th 2006 @ 9:29 pm Opinion and Commentary

The Student Underground, a radical paper in Boston, just did an article on the rebirth of the SDS. Tom Good (NYC Chapter), Mark Rudd(Former Weather Underground member), and myself were quoted. The debate in the article, over the control that the older generation might have over SDS, is an interesting one. What do people think?

Is there talk about when MDS and Radicals in the Professions will be starting. I think if those three groups are structured like SDS chapters are trying to be structured now (autonomous groups) then no group will be running things. I personally think its important for students to run the student group, and the same with the other groups. This will allow different perspectives to be maintained while still working closely together on different actions. We also have to realise that people have different issues that more directly relate to them.

MDS and RIP are VERY active with SDS at the moment. Talk with Al Haber (megiddo@umich.edu) or Tom Good (tmgood@loveandstruggle.net) about it. MDS works directly with SDS locals planning actions and such. I’d also recommend hoping on the RIP discussion list, and encouraging others to as well. ;)
